The "Aid Basics!" project took place in Mollina, Spain from 11/06/2024 to 18/06/2024, bringing together participants from Spain, Romania, Turkey, Germany, Portugal, Greece and Bulgaria.
Within this project we:
- 🌟formed connections: I met 29 other youth workers from 7 different countries and we quickly became a tight-knit group. The exchange of ideas and cultures was inspiring, and we left with new friendships and perspectives.
- 🛠 learned about first aid in creative ways: We explored 5 different non-formal tools related to first aid, from integrative methods to intercultural learning. The collaboration with local "Cruz Roja" representatives and the expertise brought to our sessions made the learning process much more interesting and engaging.
- 💻 co-fcreated digital results: we created an Instagram page through which we shared valuable, educational information and materials about the techniques learned in the project in an interactive way. These resources will be useful to others in the future.
- 🤝 built partnerships: the project was not only about learning but also about promoting collaboration, interacting with youth workers from other countries enriched our perspectives and strengthened our network of partners/collaborators.
- ✍️ planned for the future: we outlined two future initiatives.
A week of transformation
The Aid Basics initiative was not only about acquiring new skills or knowledge, but also about creating lasting connections, and empowering youth workers to take the knowledge they have gained further. The practical approaches, combined with the collaborative spirit of the participants, made this a truly transformative experience.
The participants have a deeper understanding of first aid, a toolkit of non-formal educational methods and a network of peers from across Europe. The digital resources they have co-created will continue to educate and inspire others, and the foundation laid for future initiatives promises continued collaboration between partners.
In the end, Aid Basics was more than just a training course - it was a catalyst for change, equipping youth workers with the tools, knowledge and networks they need to make a lasting impact in their communities.
